NDA Cadet, ‘brutalised’ To Death A Day After Arrival

A fresh Cadet of Nigeria Defence Academy, NDA, Kaduna, James Didam Bulus, has died of alleged brutalisation from senior cadets, 24 hours after he finished registration and reported to hostel.

Sources informed Saturday Vanguard in Kaduna that people wept uncontrollably at the funeral of the 18 year-old James, with registration number NDA/ 11537, at the Military Cemetery, on Whaff Road, Kaduna, on Thursday while a contingent of Nigeria Army buried the late cadet with full military honour, even though he had served his country for only 24 hours.

Brigadier General, MG Kangye, Cadets Commandant of the school, handed over the Nigeria National Flag, a pair of army boot and army ceremonial cap to the mourning father of the deceased, Mr Didam Joshua, as women cried uncontrollably in the fenced cemetery.

Relations of the deceased cadet were too distraught to speak to our correspondent, but a close family friend of Joshua said he was beaten to death on his “introductory” night.

He said: “He arrived NDA on Saturday, 3rd September, 2016 and on Monday, 5th September; I was told that he was dead. It was my friend that drove his son to the gate of old NDA and they parted ways happily. But, I was told that he died on Sunday after he did not survive what I was told was ‘introduction’ beatings from his seniors. At the mortuary, you could see stitches on his head and he had bruises on other parts of the body. The NDA said that he died of stomach pain and that before he could be taken to the hospital, he died on the way.

“I asked ‘how can such a brilliant, young boy who was very eager, proud and happy to serve his country get killed just a day when he reported to start what we all thought will be a brilliant military career?

“How can a healthy, smart boy who was never a trouble maker have such wounds on his body, and someone is saying he had stomach problem? God knows the best. But it will be difficult for my friend (Joshua) to pull through this agony, especially his wife, “, he said.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer, PRO, of NDA, Captain Musa Yahaya, said that James, who hails from Kaduna municipality, had an accident on the day he was to report and came to NDA with injuries.

He said: “It was when the new cadets were queuing to receive their kits that Cadet Didam slumped. He was immediately rushed to the clinic and was given the best of medical attention. When the doctors examined him, they found out that he had internal bleeding. He had earlier confided to one of his colleagues that he had an accident on his way to NDA. But that he was afraid to tell the authority so that they would not reject him. He was never brutalized. It was an accident that he had. That was what the autopsy confirmed. He died on Monday.”

Two Married Kenyan Govt Staff In Trouble After Photos Having Sex Leaked Online

According to Mpasho News Kenya, Nakuru Public Service Board has launched investigations after photos of two County employees having sex went viral.

The photos that have been going round on social media are said to be of a cashier and an AP officer. Although they are both married with children, they decided to satisfy each other’s thirst not knowing that this would land them in trouble. It’s said that the Administration Police Officer sent the photo doing it with the cashier to a friend and it mistakenly leaked online.

The two have not reported to work since Monday when the photo leaked online. The County said disciplinary action will be taken against them if found guilty of flouting the employee code of ethics. See the photo below...

Things Responsible Men Do When Their Partner Is Pregnant

I am talking about those men that loves their partner . One thing is that they are more than happy when the news of the baby to come is been broken to them and they are ready to go extra mile to make sure their woman don`t feel the pains associated with pregnancy.

The followings are some of the things the responsible men do when their partner are pregnant:

1. Shower her with gifts:

This is the period the responsible men drops by the next store to get gift for their partner, not just any gift but best of those items the partner loves.

2. Every minute checks: 

The responsible men knows that the pregnant stage is the period their attention is needed most by their woman, so they do all they can to be close when they are not even close. They call every minute to ask about the welfare of the partner and the unborn child while they wait anxiously to see the baby start moving in the stomach.

3. They ask questions at all times:

At every sound of the partner, the man will ask question, how are you? what is it? hope no problem? and so on. This is not just for asking sake, but to show the woman they are also feeling what the woman is feeling even when that is not possible.

4. They turn the woman to pet:

The pregnancy period is the period women needs to be handled with care. And they should be the center of concentration due to their delicate condition and the pains attached. The responsible men rub them in the back, stomach, leg and ma-sage them on or off request just to do little in relieving them of the pains they might be going through. 

5. They take the position of a helper:

During pregnancy period, even the man that cannot boil water starts to grow confidence to cook vegetable soup just to show the woman how caring he is, and at times they end up cooking salty food. The point remains that they cook. This is when you see a responsible man preparing the breakfast even before the woman wakes, they boil water for her bath, they come home early enough to prepare dinner ,while some will take her out for dinner.

Any woman with a responsible man should be proud and treat him right after baby has been delivered. This is because it is not easy to tolerate a woman let alone the one with the pregnancy condition.

Abu Al-Barnawi, Son Of Mohammed Yusuf, Named Jihadi Head

When the Islamic State group appointed Abu Musab al-Barnawi as the head of Boko Haram early in August, few people even recognised his name.

But to close observers of Nigerian jihadi affairs, Barnawi’s promotion from relatively unknown spokesman to leader came as no surprise.

After all, many experts say that Barnawi, born Habib Yusuf, is the 22-year-old son of Boko Haram’s founder Mohammed Yusuf.

Barnawi’s appointment by IS has deepened a rift with longtime chief Abubakar Shekau, who later released a video insisting he was in charge and vowing to fight on.

Nigeria’s military claimed on Tuesday that Shekau had been wounded in an air strike on Boko Haram’s forest stronghold but this has yet to be confirmed.

Yusuf senior died in police custody following a 2009 military crackdown on the sect in the northeastern city of Maiduguri that spurred the group to take up arms against the Nigerian government.

“Abu Musab al-Barnawi is the son of late Mohammed Yusuf,” tweeted Ahmad Salkida, a Nigerian journalist who specialises in covering the insurgency.

“He is the first surviving son,” confirmed Fulan Nasrullah, a conflict researcher based in Nigeria, also in a Twitter post.

Shekau himself had taken Barnawi under his wing when he was still a teenager, and gave him a new Arabic name meaning “the man from Borno”.

Barnawi was “like a younger brother or son to Shekau”, Nasrullah said, describing him as one of the chief’s two trusted right hand men.

The teenager could not have had a more fearsome mentor.

Shekau instructed him in the art of war as he transformed Boko Haram from a strict Islamic sect into a jihadist movement that laid waste to swathes of territory in the northeast.

Since 2009, the group has killed an estimated 20,000 people, prompted 2.6 million to flee their homes, and kidnapped thousands of people, including hundreds of schoolgirls from Chibok in the northern state of Borno.

Secret killings

Barnawi made his first public appearance in a January 2015 video claiming responsibility for a Boko Haram attack in the northeastern town of Baga, where many civilians were massacred.

The first signs of a rift appeared after Shekau pledged allegiance to IS in March that year and changed Boko Haram’s name to Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

According to sources close to the jihadist group and familiar with its operations, Barnawi broke with Shekau and turned to Mamman Nur, a strategist who had served as Shekau’s deputy and was a close ally and confidant of Barnawi’s father.

Nur and Barnawi took fighters out of Sambisa forest to areas along Lake Chad, where the savannah grasslands meet the Sahara desert.

They openly criticised Shekau’s brutal leadership style, alleging he secretly killed top militant commanders who disagreed with him.

They also blamed him for the setbacks the group had suffered since Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari came into office in 2015.

The sources close to Boko Haram say Nur turned down the official leadership of ISWAP, suggesting it go instead to his protege while he directs from behind the scenes.

Buhari Sympathises With Italy Over Deadly Earthquake

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sympathy with Italy over the deadly earthquake that claimed more than 200 lives in the central parts of the country. In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday by Garba Shehu, the president’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Buhari said the government and the people of Nigeria shared the grief of Italian citizens over the disaster. "My heart and prayers go out to the people of Italy at this time of national mourning, caused by the devastating earthquake. 

“President Buhari told the Italian Prime Minister, Mr. Matteo Renzi, that his family, the government and the people of Nigeria shared the grief of Italian citizens over this deadly natural disaster,’’ Garba said. Mr. Buhari prayed to God to comfort the families of the victims and grant them the fortitude to overcome their grief at this emotionally challenging time.

Anambra At 25: Obiano To Commission Flyover Bridges At Anniversary

Activities marking the twenty five years of the creation of Anambra State will kick off on Friday 26th August, 2016 with His Excellency the Governor, Chief Willie Obiano unveiling the 25 years anniversary icon after which he will address a world press conference at the Governor's Lodge in Amawbia.

On Saturday 27th August, 2016, which is the anniversary day proper, His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano will also address the state in a radio and television broadcast by 7am. 

The Governor, thereafter will perform the following official functions:

1. Foundation stone laying ceremony of the International Conference Centre in Awka.

2. Commissioning of the three new flyovers in Aroma Junction, Kwata Junction.

3. Flag off of one million trees planting campaign in the state.

4. Foundation laying of the Oxygen Project Plant for the State Teaching Hospital.

5. Flag off of the N20million Community project.

Other activities lined up for the celebration of the silver jubilee have been spanned to last the next three months with a grand finale in December this year.
